Design of Double Talk Sequences in Different Languages to Harmonize Third Party Listening Test Results
نویسندگان
چکیده
In [1] a Third Party Listening Test (TPLT) was introduced using pre-recorded conversations in Russian, German and English language to assess and verify the quality of eCall systems (In-vehicle Systems, IVS). The comparison of different languages shall verify the possibility for IVS manufacturers to optimize performance of their systems for the homologation tests according to MGS R55531 [2] based on different languages. First tests lead to similar results for Russian, English and German recordings for most of the tested devices and parameters [1]. Only for particular devices, showing fast switching characteristic during double talk, ambiguous results were found under double talk conditions. The double talk sequence, in particular the timing of uplink and downlink signals, was adapted for the German sequence and the test was repeated in all three languages. Furthermore two groups on test persons, naïve and expert subjects, participated in the German test session in order to verify the consistency of results between both groups. The adapted speech sequences and the results of the recent listening test are discussed here. [1] F. Kettler, S. Poschen, R. Perception Oriented, Delay-controlled Echo Cancellation in Ip Based Telephone Networks
Echo cancellation is one of the most challenging tasks in the design of IP based telephone networks. The degradation of conversational speech quality caused by impairments introduced by echo cancellers can be considerably reduced when using an echo delay controlled approach: The non-linear processor provides a sufficient, but limited additional attenuation based on the talker echo tolerance cur...

متن کاملTest Method Facet and the Construct Validity of Listening Comprehension Tests
The assessment of listening abilities is one of the least understood, least developed and, yet, one of the most important areas of language testing and assessment. It is particularly important because of its potential wash-back effects on classroom practices. Given the fact that listening tests play a great role in assessing the language proficiency of students, they are expected to enjoy a hig...
متن کاملTesting for Asymmetric Information in Automobile Insurance Market an Iranian Insurance Company
The presence of asymmetric information is an important source of efficiency loss for insurance companies and could reduce profitability. In this paper, we test the conditional independence of coverage choice and risk, where “conditional” means conditional on all variables observed by the insurer. We use two parametric methods: a pair of probits and a bivariate probit model. The data includes al...
متن کاملThe Effect of Item Modality and Note-taking on EFL Learners’ Performance on a Listening Test
The pivotal role of listening comprehension in second/foreign language learning requires that researchers conduct studies which investigate factors that affect test takers’ performances. The present study was set out to examine whether item modality (i.e., written vs. oral items) affects listening comprehension test performance. In addition, it investigated whether allowing test takers to take ...
